we have this hope as an anchor for the soul

I asked my babysitter an innocent question on Monday, which led to the tale of her husband's sudden death on a sunny day in 2001. She told her story without emotion or a plea for pity, but it wasn't hard to tell how horrific the experience had been. For 30 years she lived the dream of for better, and for eight she's been trapped in the nightmare of for worse.

She sighed as she looked out the window and told me that she stills sees him every night in her dreams, where he gets to meet the granddaughter he'll never know.

This world sucks. I'm glad there's another one.
